This week we recorded a segment in studio with The Pipsqueakery!

The Pipsqueakery is a hamster rescue organization that takes in hamsters from animal shelters, pet store closures, or from other surrenders. They have hamsters of all types, including a blind hamster (pictured), a three-legged hamster, a hairless hamster, and all sorts of colors and sizes. Only a small fraction of them visited in person (in hamster?) but we showed lots of photos as a part of the segment. In all, they’ve rescued and fostered about 175 hamsters and they are currently holding about 50! Wow! They brought in lots of hamsters for the show, as well as hamster care supplies to help kids at home know what it takes to properly care for a hamster as a pet.

The group is a part of a larger exotic pet rescue organization here in Indiana, EARPS (Exotic Animal Rescue and Pet Sanctuary). EARPS oversees several individuals or smaller groups who specialize in everything from lizards to birds to chinchillas to whatever! Both are very worthy orgnizations and I encourage you to find and like them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (the bonus is lots of great critter pics!) or visiting their sites to find out how you can help them in their work: EARPS, Inc. and The Pipsqueakery.
